Mixed Media Journal

9.02.2012

The start of my journal. I started off with a large sheet of heavy watercolor paper which I sewed together using linen thread and a binder's needle. Went in with watercolor pencils and acrylic paints, smudging, brushing, spraying, and blotting. Learning that it's okay to get messy and paint un-uniformly...if that's even a word? (^-^)

Next, I'll glue in some sketches and random bits of paper. I'll have to get back to this project in the future, I have a list of other things I need to accomplish around the house. However, if you want to see more of what happens to this book, leave me a comment and I'll share what happens next (which will ultimately bind me towards completing this journal..ha!).

  2. These are soooooooo beautiful colours. I would love to start an Art journal, but I don´t know how. I guess I need some rules to start my Art journal project. ;)

    1. Hi there Fanny, thanks for your comment :) There really aren't any rules for journaling. Make it you and do whatever you wish. Perhaps I will continue this project and share some ideas. It'll make an interesting blog post I'd say. Have a great day! :) xo

  3. Great colours! Love the first and last ones! I'd like to start an art journal too but for now all I have are loose pages, not a notebook! Btw, nice stamp too :)

    1. Hello Rachcortes, yes I can read it fine. Thank you for your comment. A loose journal is perfectly okay too. Just have creative fun with it. Maybe even hold your pages together with a pretty ribbon or string. My stamp is from Besotted Brand if you want one for yourself too. Have a good day. xo Merissa

Hi there! Photography and art featured on this blog, unless where noted, came from my camera and were made or styled by my hands. You may not use my photos for profit or on commercial websites, but we might be able to work something out with a dozen chocolate macarons, and a juicy deal. Do not remove my watermarks or copyright markings from my photos (please see previous sentence). I won't bite, well unless you infringe on my copyright. But really, send me an email, I'm pretty nice. The snail mail on my blog includes my mail or the work from other artists and pen friends. I do my best to give everyone credit. But, in the case where I have missed the proper credit please contact me to address it. If you would like to re-blog or pin any of my original works please be the awesome person that you are and give me a shout out a.k.a. proper credit, and link it back here. Speaking of links, I do on occasion link out to other sites, however I am not responsible for the content you find on those sites. Sometimes clicking on a link I’ve provided may be a link to a site that will give me a small commission if you buy something from them. Which means that I might get paid (hopefully not in gum) if you click on that link, whoo-hoo. Reason why I’m telling you is because I want to be honest with you and frankly, because it’s illegal not to. That said, I promise to use any affiliate commissions earned for good cause: like stationery hauls and lattes. Thank you kindly, Merissa
