I went to the post office today to mail a letter and picked up a few things. The stamp geek in me had to share my latest stamp acquisition. Received a package the other day from a bookseller overseas and the first thing that I noticed when I received it were these bird postage stamps.  I  think it is a cool thing  to see postage from other countries in my mailbox. Adding a little something hand-crafted to a piece of paper can make things look so much better, oui? (And sometimes saying words in French can sound tres chic!) What I did here was pretty simple. To a plain white notecard I hand sewed a heart made of felt, and hand cut the word "HI" with an X-acto knife. Voila!

While browsing the Paperchase section at the Borders bookstore at Pearlridge, I came across this lovely box sitting on the shelf. What a nice surprise to find a letter set with stickers and labels inside! The prettiest tea tins yet. I really want these! Aren't their labels so pretty! So glad that we have a Lupicia tea store at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Looks like I'll be sipping lots of tea this Spring.

Decorating a plain white envelope is a fun thing! Well, at least for me it is (^•^)I started off with a plain white envelope, drew a little bird, added a large sticker, and stuck a patterned trim at the bottom. I also calligraphed the recipient's name in white ink. So far, my calligraphy is chicken scratch, but I really am trying. I will be good at it one day (^•^)...crossing my fingers.

Because I love using pretty postage stamps on my envelopes, I got myself a copy of the US Postal's Guide to US stamps. The 37th edition contains US stamps released all the way up until 2010, and is a great way to look up the Scott #'s and release dates of my vintage postage. Fonts are something that I'm interested in. The ones used here (Marie Antoinette) are fun and have a bit of a retro feel. While browsing the bookstore I was stopped in my tracks by the gorgeous photograph, beautiful colors, and pretty fonts on the cover of Somerset Life magazine. One afternoon while browsing through Town & Country magazine during my lunch break at work, I came across an event article announcing an exhibition on Shanghai at The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, California. And it just so happened that my mom was flying over to San Fran for a wedding!So, on her first day there, she went to see the museum. She got me omiyage, the postcards you see below.
